Use
The Pan Cytokeratin (AE1,3) by Immunohistochemistry test is used for the histopathological examination of tissue samples, analyzing the presence and distribution of cytokeratin proteins, which are markers for epithelial cells. It helps in identifying epithelial tumors and distinguishing them from other types of cells. Special Instructions
Submit an electronic request for ordering. If not possible, use an ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) combined with an ARUP client number. Specimen should not be oven-baked if sent as precut slides. Use ARUP's tissue transport kit (#47808) for submission. Room temperature or refrigerated transport is advised, especially with cooled containers during warmer months.
Limitations
This test is a technical service; it is performed as a stain and return service only. It is important to note that depleted specimens or those submitted with non-representative tissue type will be rejected. Furthermore, the test's utility is limited to the interpretation of stained sections, and its accuracy is dependent on the quality and preservation state of the submitted tissue.
