Fungal Antibodies, Quantitative Double Immunodiffusion
Also known as: Pathogenic and Opportunistic Fungal Antibodies
Use
Aid in the diagnosis of pathogenic or opportunistic fungal infections
Special Instructions
This test uses double immunodiffusion (DID) methodology to quantitatively assess antibodies against specific fungal pathogens. Proper specimen handling and prompt transportation are essential to ensure accurate results. The test requires serum samples collected in red-top or gel-barrier tubes.
Limitations
The sensitivity of the Fungal Antibodies, Quantitative Double Immunodiffusion test may be limited by the specific antibody response of the patient and the selected fungal antigens. Cross-reactivity with non-target species may occur, and results should be interpreted in the context of the patient's clinical condition and other diagnostic findings. Repeat testing may not be feasible if only a minimum volume is collected, as this does not allow for reanalysis.
