Fungal Panel 1, Immunodiffusion
Use
This immunodiffusion assay includes Aspergillus Antibodies, Blastomyces Antibody, Coccidioides (IgG) Antibody, and Histoplasma Antibody, as listed by Quest Diagnostics. It is highly specific for histoplasmosis infection, though sensitivity may be low in early infection. Detection of M and H immunoprecipitin bands can indicate acute (M band) or chronic/severe acute infection (H band). The presence of both bands is considered conclusive for diagnosis of histoplasmosis.
