FISH, ALK 2p23 Rearrangement, Lung Cancer (NSCLC)
Also known as: Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC), Vysis ALK Break Apart FISH Probe Kit, Crizotinib
Use
This test detects rearrangements of the ALK gene (located at 2p23) in non–small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC), which are associated with sensitivity to targeted ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
Special Instructions
Specimen must be formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded lung tissue, either as a block or positively charged unstained slides, accompanied by a pathology report. Fixation in 10% neutral buffered formalin for 6–48 hours is recommended. Do not freeze the specimen.
Limitations
Specimens that are decalcified, improperly fixed or processed, formerly stained slides, or those with degraded nucleic acid may result in test failure or decreased sensitivity. Tissue adequacy and presence of tumor cells are critical for accurate analysis.
