Clinical Use
Order TestUse
The proto‑oncogene MET (c‑MET) encodes a hepatocyte growth factor receptor with tyrosine‑kinase activity. Overexpression or amplification of MET has been observed in a variety of neoplasms, including kidney, lung, head and neck, ovary, breast, thyroid, brain, stomach, pancreas, and colon. MET gene amplification, detected by FISH, has been associated with unfavorable prognosis in non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and resistance to EGFR inhibitors.
