Histoplasma Antibody, Immunodiffusion
Use
This test aids in the diagnosis of histoplasmosis by detecting antibodies to the H and M antigens of Histoplasma capsulatum via immunodiffusion. It is often used in conjunction with complement fixation (CF) testing to increase sensitivity and diagnostic yield, as the combined serologic approach provides broader detection of antibody responses in patients with suspected infection. Parallel testing and convalescent specimen comparison improve interpretation.

Limitations
Immunodiffusion alone is not recommended as a standalone test; it may fail to detect antibodies in a portion of infected patients, and results should be interpreted in context with complement fixation testing and clinical presentation.
