Immune Cell Function

Use
The Immune Cell Function assay evaluates the functional activity of immune cells in patients, specifically those undergoing transplantation, to assess immune competence or dysfunction. It is restricted to transplant patients and is used to help guide clinical decisions in the transplant setting.
Special Instructions
This test is restricted for transplant facilities only. Prior to ordering, the laboratory must be contacted for special logistics arrangements. The sample must be collected after 6 a.m. if it will not reach the laboratory by the 4 p.m. setup cutoff on the same day, and setup must occur within 30 hours of collection; setup is performed Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m.–6:30 p.m.
Limitations
Specimens received past the 30‑hour room‑temperature stability window are rejected. Refrigeration or freezing of specimens is unacceptable. The test is limited to transplant patients and requires careful timing of collection and delivery.
