Legionella Antigen, EIA, Urine
Use
Legionella urinary antigen testing is useful in conjunction with other laboratory tests in the diagnosis of Legionnaires’ disease. Detection may persist for some time after clinical recovery, and a negative result does not rule out disease caused by other Legionella species or serogroups beyond L. pneumophila serogroup 1.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
This assay detects only Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 and will not identify other Legionella species or serogroups; a negative result cannot rule out legionellosis. Antigen may remain detectable for months after recovery.
