Mutated Citrullinated Vimentin (MCV) Antibody
Also known as: anti-MCV, RA, Rheumatoid arthritis
Use
Anti‑mutated citrullinated vimentin (MCV) antibody is a specific anti-citrullinated protein antibody used as a second‑line marker of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), alongside rheumatoid factor and anti‑cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP). Compared to CCP, MCV antibody is slightly less specific but offers higher sensitivity, and when used together with CCP, can increase RA diagnostic sensitivity by approximately 5–10%. Additionally, MCV antibody positivity is associated with more severe disease and greater radiographic progression, further supporting its clinical utility in assessing RA prognosis.
