Estradiol (Adult Premenopausal Females or Individuals on Estrogen Hormone Therapy)
Also known as: ESTRA
Use
This immunoassay is used to measure estradiol levels in adult premenopausal cisgender females and individuals on estrogen hormone therapies. It is not recommended when low estradiol concentrations are expected, such as in children, cisgender males, and postmenopausal females. It is also not recommended for monitoring antiestrogen therapy or for individuals with protein-binding abnormalities or on hormonal contraception.
Special Instructions
Use an alternative test like Estradiol (Adult Males, Children, Postmenopausal Females, or Individuals on Estrogen-Suppressing Hormone Therapy) when low estradiol levels are expected or for specific conditions like hormonal contraception.
Limitations
Not suitable for evaluating estradiol levels in individuals with protein-binding abnormalities or on hormonal contraception. Should not be used to monitor antiestrogen therapy such as aromatase inhibitors. No reference intervals have been established for prepubertal females or cisgender males.
