INSM1 by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: INSM1 IHC
Use
INSM1 by Immunohistochemistry is a technical immunohistochemical stain service used to detect insulinoma‑associated protein 1 (INSM1), a sensitive and specific marker of neuroendocrine differentiation, particularly for neuroendocrine and neuroepithelial neoplasms. The stain is performed on formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded tissue or cell block specimens and is returned to the submitting provider for interpretation by the pathologist. It serves as a nuclear marker useful to support the diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors.
Special Instructions
This test is New York state approved. It is offered as a stain and return (technical) service only. ARUP supply #47808 tissue transport kit is available through ARUP Connect or Client Services; submission of block or minimum of 2 unstained, positively charged slides (3‑ to 5‑micron thick) is required. Do not oven bake precut slides.
Limitations
Specimens must contain representative tissue; depleted specimens or non‑representative tissue types are unacceptable. Frozen specimens are unacceptable. While the stain is returned to the submitting provider, interpretation is not included and must be performed separately by a pathologist. Performance limitations beyond technical staining are not described.
