Liver-Kidney Microsome - 1 Antibody, IgG
Also known as: LKM1 IGG
Use
The Liver-Kidney Microsome - 1 Antibody, IgG test is used in the differential evaluation of autoimmune liver disease of unknown etiology, especially autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) of childhood onset. A positive result indicates the presence of IgG antibodies to recombinant human P450 2D6 and suggests the possibility of autoimmune hepatitis, type 2. However, a negative LKM-1 result does not rule out the presence of autoimmune hepatitis, type 2.
Special Instructions
Use this test in combination with Liver Cytosolic Antigen Type 1 (LC-1) Antibody, IgG (2010711) when evaluating for AIH-2. Ensure serum is separated from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection and transferred to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.
Limitations
The test may not detect all individuals with autoimmune hepatitis, type 2, as a negative result does not exclude the disease. Contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, or lipemic specimens are unacceptable and can affect the test result.
