Melan A by Immunohistochemistry (DAB Detection)
Also known as: MELANA IHC
Use
Immunohistochemical stain for Melan‑A (MART‑1) used for detection of melanocytic differentiation—commonly applied in evaluation of melanoma and other melanocyte‑lineage tumors. This stain aids in confirming diagnosis when morphological features are uncertain.
Special Instructions
This test is performed as a stain‑and‑return (technical) service only. Electronic request submission is preferred; if unavailable use ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form #32978 with an ARUP client number.
Limitations
Specimens must be adequate (not depleted or non‑representative) and properly fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin, paraffin‑embedded, or cell‑block prepared. Precut slides should not be oven‑baked. Frozen specimens unacceptable. Interpretation depends on staining quality.
