Use
This test is a histochemical mucin stain (mucicarmine) intended to detect mucin in tissue specimens, helpful in identifying mucin-producing cells and structures such as adenocarcinomas and fungal capsules. It is a stain-and-return (technical) service performed and reported by ARUP Anatomic Pathology.

Not provided.
Limitations
Unacceptable conditions include nonrepresentative tissue type or depleted specimens. Frozen specimens are unacceptable. Slides or blocks must be properly fixed, paraffin embedded, and not exposed to excessive heat.
