Glomerular Basement Membrane Antibody (IgG)
Also known as: Anti-GBM
Clinical Use
Order TestUse
Glomerular Basement Membrane Antibody (IgG) detects autoantibodies against the glomerular basement membrane, frequently present in approximately one‑fourth of patients with Goodpasture’s syndrome—a disorder characterized by both glomerulonephritis and pulmonary hemorrhage. The presence of these antibodies, in conjunction with appropriate clinical findings, supports diagnosis of anti‑GBM disease.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Weakly positive results (e.g., in the range of 5–30 EU/mL) may occur in patients who do not have anti‑GBM antibody‑mediated disease.
