Oncology FISH Analysis - ALL Pediatric FISH Panel
Use
Oncology FISH Analysis - ALL Pediatric Fish Panel is designed to detect chromosomal abnormalities associated with pediatric acute B lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) or B-lymphoblastic lymphoma. These chromosomal abnormalities are of significant diagnostic and prognostic value. The assay can identify LSI BCR/ABL associated with poor prognosis, LSI MLL linked to poor outcomes, t(12;21) which is favorable, as well as gains of chromosomes 4 and 10, and the significant translocation and gene fusion between TCF3 and PBX1, helping in diagnostic decisions and treatment monitoring.
Special Instructions
This test is indicated for patients with suspected or diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukemia or B-lymphoblastic lymphoma, especially when cytogenetic testing has failed. It aids in both diagnosis and monitoring response to treatment. Specimens should be shipped using insulated containers to maintain optimal temperature, with a focus on prompt delivery to ensure test reliability. If the abnormality is not detected, other testing approaches may be warranted.
Limitations
The FISH assay tests only for the abnormalities at specified loci and cannot identify abnormalities outside these regions. Results should be contextualized with a complete clinical picture.
